i was able to travel home this past weekend for my sister's baby shower. she looked so beautiful! i can't wait to share the rest of the images...but here's a little preview for now.

*(i'd also just like to share that i'm trying really hard to get my images correct

in the camera BEFORE i shoot. minimizing post-production is something that i strive for.

this is one reason why i'm really pleased with this image- the only editing i did was remove a couple little white specs on her dress and boost the contrast just a smidgen.

i'm training myself to shoot as if i were using film.)

What a beautiful couple- inside and out. Brittany and Daniel are so in love! They are approaching their one year wedding anniversary and wanted to have some photos taken. In addition to being a gorgeous girl and fantastic friend, Brittany is also a very creative stylist! All of these images were her ideas and were supported from items in her personal little "prop box".
(Girl- I'm serious when I say that I want you to tag along and help style my future photo shoots. )

Hanging in behind them was a string of love letters that Brittany and Daniel had written to each other in the beginning of their relationship. Perfection.

John and Charleen Hoover's 50th wedding anniversary

This weekend, I had the honor of capturing a wonderful couple's 50th wedding anniversary celebration. Being here made me feel so filled with joy and love for my own family.
After dinner, John gave a speech about how he not only loved his wife, but he needed her too. After hearing something so sweet, it was only natural for me to reflect on my own marriage. Without sounding too mushy, I am just so greatful for my husband and I look forward to the day when we will celebrate our own 50th anniversary.

It's always a pleasure to visit Cheekwood here in Nashville. This time around, I went with my "in-laws" to check out the Chihuly installation. It was incredible! We did one round in the early evening, grabbed dinner, and then toured it again at night time.

as one would expect, the vendors had table after table filled with fresh fruits and vegetables.

kevin and i recently took a trip out east to visit his parents. we did a lot while we were there! we went back to the spot where we got engaged, saw a Mets vs. Cubs game, toured the Bronx Zoo, and most importantly- spent some great quality time with his mom, dad, and grandmother. Here's a photo from his mother's garden, and a really neat plant from the Delaware Water Gap.

little buds were popping up everywhere

We've been in Nashville a little over a year now, and Kevin and I are still struggling to make this our home. It's a wonderful city, and I honestly don't know why we haven't been able to truly embrace it. However, these past couple of weeks have been pretty great. The weather is warming up and therefore, allows more time to be spent outside. On Wednesday, I took Anna for a little walk at a local park. I can't wait for everything to bloom!
Also this week, our condo unit got recycling bins! Woohoo
AND...mas tacos por favor is back in 12th south. so yummy

Yesterday, we had a nice little break from the chilly, rainy weather. So, my friend and I took our doggies here to go hiking!
I have never really been hiking before...(sad I know- I've seriously been missing out).
We had a great time, and especially enjoyed watching Anna and Ringo frolic in the water. She even did okay off of her leash! Hopefully there will be many more outings like this in the future.

my beautiful friend from work needed portraits for her new website promoting her own dance camp... more shots to come!

goodness, this was a fun and difficult shoot! she is such a great dancer and i tried so hard to capture the turns and jumps at just the right moment. i know in one shot, her hand is cut off- however, i just love it so much!

well, it's almost the end of the month, which means time to take down my photographs at
Bongo Java.
thank you to everyone who came to check it out- it meant so much to have friends and family come to see it. kevin and i had a lot of visitors this month and i just feel really loved that you all would come out of your way to support me.
also, a major thank you to those who purchased some pieces to hang in your home! what a huge compliment!

i'm usually inspired by interesting line formations and shadows. all kinds of architecture also strike my fancy- whether it be old worn down buildings, or new innovative structures.

i enjoy black and white photography, but there is just something great to be said about vibrant color.

in the past i have mainly photographed still life scenes. now that my husband and i have moved to beautiful colorado, i'm hoping to get into landscapes. i've also really enjoyed shooting a couple weddings and hope to do more of that.
